Meet the team

At Bright Eyes we invest heavily in our staff as we recognise that quality staff are our biggest asset.  Although they come from diverse backgrounds they have all demonstrated the qualities needed to earn a place at Bright Eyes.

All new staff are security checked with the Police and referees contacted.  Staff attend regular training and refresher courses to ensure that they remain leaders in their field and are able to provide the best possible care for your children.  By being accepted for employment at Bright Eyes you can be assured that staff have a genuine love of children, are appropriately trained or qualified and have the experience and ability to ensure that your child receives the best care, attention and education possible.

Theresa

My name is Theresa I have been a part of the Bright Eyes Whanau since mid 2008 and I am enjoying my ongoing learning as a teacher.  It is such a pleasure to spend my days with the children and alongside their Whanau as they are such a joy to support in their learning journey.

I am of Samoan descent and am blessed with my son Rylee, and we belong to a large family.  Family and friends (close friends are pretty much extended family in my books) are important to me and with such a large family there is always something going on!!

I enjoy learning alongside the children and I endeavour to encourage their joy and desire to learn while making it meaningful and fun.  Empowering the children with knowledge, confidence and independence is just a few of my aims throughout their learning journey with Bright Eyes.

Kathreen

Kamusta/Kia Ora!  My name is Kathreen.  I am 22 years old.  I have recently graduated with a Graduate Diploma in Early Childhood Education with the University of Auckland.  I am a qualified, provisionally registered Early Childhood teacher.

I was born in the Phillipines and moved to New Zealand at the age of 5. I am the youngest of three, and have many nieces and nephews.  I grew up with a musical background playing the piano and the flute.  I have a passion for food, the beach, baking, reading and spending time with family.

I have only recently just been welcomed into the Bright Eyes family.  I started off as a student at the Infants & Toddles side and moved towards the Preschool side to cover maternity leave.  I value the importance of relationships.  In my teaching pedagogy, I believe that teaching with a caring and respectful approach through personal engagement with children, their families, and staff provides positive learning and teaching experiences.

Rukshana

Hi, my name is Rukshana.  I first joined Bright Eyes as a volunteer at the Infants & Toddles side while studying for my Bachelor's degree in 2013.  Later I started doing relieving work while finishing my studies.  As I finished my studies in 2015, I was given the wonderful opportunity to join the Preschool team.

I am passionate about investigating children's needs and challenging their thinking from time to time.  I like to learn about different cultures and their traditions and implementing them into my teaching practice.

Jenna

Kia Ora my name is Jenna.  I am a mother of three children of whom are my whole world.  I have a great passion working with children,, I love it.  To me it does not feel like work at all, and I learn just as much from the children as they learn from me. I have been working in Early Childhood for just over 6 years and spent time at KinderCare.  While at KinderCare the children and families were amazing but I was looking for something more.  My oldest daughter used to come to Bright Eyes and it felt so warm and inviting and like home.  I wanted so dearly to be part of it or something similar.  I had been looking curiously to see what opportunities were out there, and came across availability at the centre.  Immediately I knew I could not miss out so I jumped at the opportunity and have loved every second since being here.

I can't wait to learn all that I can about the children and Whanau here and to work alongside them encouraging, guiding, and extending the children's interests.  Childhood is an amazing time and I feel privileged to be part of your children's most precious years.

Infant & Toddler Centre Staff

Mohini

Kia Ora, My name is Mohini,  and I am the team leader in the Infant & Toddler Centre at Bright Eyes.  I have been in the teaching field for the past 18 years.  In these years I have taught in High School, Primary School and Early Childhood but have decided that Early Childhood is my passion.

I became more passionate about contributing to the intellectual , social, emotional and physical development once I became a mother of a beautiful daughter who is now in school.

Every day is new, exciting and a creative experience where learning theories and practice are displayed in different ways.  This makes my work fun and exciting everyday where I meet wonderful new Whanau and learn about each Tamariki in different ways.  Outside my work hours I spend a lot of time with my family.  We love exploring New Zealand and take lots of interest in interior decoration and reading.

Rachel

HI my name is Rachel. I am a fully qualified and registered Early Childhood teacher.  I first started floating between both the infant & Toddler side and the preschool, and then I was fortunate to be offered a full time position in April 2009.  I studied NZTC and became qualified in 2011.  There isn't anything more rewarding than working with children.  I love knowing that I have made an impact on children's lives.  Children challenge and inspire me on a daily basis which keeps me creative.

It is a privilege to work within our community with children and their Whanau, to nurture their interests, and to be able to give them opportunities to develop as individuals who are ready for future learning and success.

Seema

Kia Ora, my name is Seema and I have been working with children for over 16 years.  I have been at Bright Eyes for 8 years and I am lucky to be part of such a great group of teachers.  I am passionate about Infants & Toddlers and have enjoyed every moment of being with them.  I feel that they allow you to be yourself and get in touch with you inner child.  I enjoy every aspect of teaching and have realized in my years that they can teach us as much as we teach them.

I enjoy spending time with my families, enjoy watching movies at home, and I love Shopping and travelling with my better half.

At Bright Eyes I work with Infants and I enjoy every moment working with them.  Being able to see babies develop and grow brings me joy and happiness.

Jasmine

My name is Jasmine and I have been working with children for just over 5 years.  I am truly passionate about teaching and doing everything that I can to support young children towards becoming confident life-long learners and explorers.

Watching children make new discoveries , grow, shine and learn more about who they are and everything they are capable of is endlessly rewarding.

I enjoy travelling and experiencing different cultures, seeing the unique way people around the world live, eat and celebrate and I am lucky enough to be in a position where I get to do this every day through the children and the families that we get to meet and know.

During my time at Bright Eyes I have known so many wonderful children and their beautiful Whanau and I simply can not wait to strengthen these connections further and continue to build on the amazing moments that I am sure are just around the corner.
